Pam Theodosakis/PrANA
Pam and her husband founded PraNa, the yoga and active wear brand 25 years ago in their garage. Their desire was to create versatile, stylish and sustainable clothing They sewed their first pieces themselves, labeled them with tags made from homemade recycled paper and shipped their orders in fruit boxes from local grocery stores.
The company grew organically as the demand grew. The clothes were bought and loved by yogis, climbers and world travelers.
Today, it is a lot bigger. It was sold to Columbia brand of clothing for $190 million and has sales over $100 million with 90 employees. Its headquarters are in Carlsbad with a 90,000 square foot manufacturing facility.
From the start, Prana has a strong belief in sustainability and giving back. It partners with several local and international charities to help make a difference. One is a name that RSF Women Fund members know well. Outdoor Outreach which we gave a $30,000 grant in 2014.
